RRB NTPC Exam Dates 2024 Announced

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially announced the exam dates for the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) recruitment exam for 2024. According to the notification, the exams are  Computer-Based Test Stage 1 (CBT-1). This announcement was made public on November 22, 2024​

Key Highlights of the RRB NTPC Exam 2024

  • Exam Start Date: The CBT-1 is expected to commence from January 15, 2025, and will be conducted in multiple shifts.
  • Admit Cards: Candidates will be able to download their admit cards four days before their exam date.
  • Posts and Vacancies: This year, the NTPC recruitment drive is offering over 11,500 vacancies for both graduate and undergraduate posts across India. These include roles such as Junior Clerk, Trains Clerk, Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, and Station Master​.

Detailed Exam Schedule

The NTPC exam two stages: CBT-1 and CBT-2.

  1. CBT-1: This stage will test candidates on General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence & reasoning. It will be common for all applicants.
  2. CBT-2: Candidates who qualify in CBT-1 will appear for the second stage

The board has also outlined the tentative timeline for CBT-2, which is likely to follow a month after CBT-1 concludes.

Exam Pattern

  • CBT-1:
    • Total Questions: 100
    • Duration: 90 minutes
    • Sections: Mathematics (30 marks), General Intelligence & Reasoning (30 marks), General Awareness (40 marks)
  • CBT-2:
    • Varies by the post technical and job-specific skills.

Application Overview

The application  online in September and October 2024. Candidates were required to submit their forms and pay the application fee during this period. For General and OBC candidates, the fee was ₹500, of which ₹400 will be refunded in CBT-1. SC/ST, PwD, and economically weaker candidates were charged ₹250

The RRB NTPC is one of the most competitive exams in India. Candidates are advised to

  • Regularly revise their syllabus and focus on weak areas.
  • Solve previous years’ question papers and take mock tests.
