Students demonstrated fiercely in the office of the Commission on Friday evening against the normalization in the 70th joint competitive examination of Bihar Public Service Commission i.e. BPSC. Patna’s famous teacher Khan Sir also participated in this demonstration in support of the students, who was arrested by the police.

He was taken to Gardnibagh police station in Patna. However, he was released after one and a half hour. Bihar DSP Anu Kumari said that demonstration without permission is illegal. Therefore action has been taken. After Khan Sir, Rehman Sir was also arrested by the police who was released after an hour.

Lathi charged 3 times, 1 student’s head injured Candidates started protesting regarding normalization from 10 am on Friday. There was an altercation between the police and the candidates for about four hours. During this, the police lathicharged three times. One student’s head was broken in the lathi charge while the leg of another was reported to be broken.

What is normalization which students are opposing?

When the number of candidates in an exam is large, the exam is conducted over several days and in several shifts. In such a situation, candidates also get different question papers. After the examination of all the shifts, the examination conducting body normalizes the marks of the students on the basis of the number of students appeared in each shift, the difficulty of the question paper and on other grounds.

Students say that this normalization process is not fair for all students. The examination should be conducted in a single shift on a day.

Commission said- talk of normalization is a rumor In the letter issued by BPSC on this matter, it was said that neither normalization is mentioned in the recruitment advertisement, nor was any notice issued later. Misleading news regarding the adoption of normalization is being spread on social media platforms. Some student leaders have deliberately spread rumors to mislead the candidates.
